Dear Pastors and Praying Friends,
We have just wrapped up our busiest month of deputation yet. All of the labor of mailing packets, filling out questionnaires, and mailing, calling, and e-mailing pastors has yielded the fruit this past month with six scheduled meetings and two drop-in meetings. At each meeting I was able to speak about our ministry to the church. We have truly enjoyed getting to know the various pastors and people we have met in the North Carolina and Indiana areas.
On March 5, Liz and I had the joy of presenting our calling to Liberty Baptist Church of Durham, North Carolina, where we hold our membership while we are on deputation. It has been such a joy to serve in the Bus Ministry, Teen Soul Winning, and follow-up visitation of this great church. The Lord even provided me an opportunity to lead a lady to Christ before I presented our ministry that night. Liz and I have had the joy to lead 3 souls to Christ this month in Durham. Praise God!
March also marks the first time we have gone outside our home base of North Carolina. After we learned of First Baptist Church of Hammond’s missions conference, we sought to find meetings that we could schedule around it. God showed Himself faithful in this endeavor, giving us four additional meetings. Before getting to Hammond, we had the privilege of being in the Indianapolis area with Hyles-Anderson graduate Brother Keith Ellis in Fairland, Indiana. We had such a great time of fellowship, soul winning, and serving with him and his family. We also met Bro. Ellis’ pastor friend from across town, Pastor Hivner, who was a great encouragement to us as he told us of his trials and victories during his time as a missionary with the Rock of Ages Prison Ministry. I’m so thankful for God’s servants who seek to encourage us as we travel the deputation trail. We ended our time there with Pastor Troy Collette, whom we also found to be a kindred brother in Christ. There is something special going on just south of Indianapolis. I have not seen such cooperation and friendship between likeminded Baptist churches before.
We wrapped up this past month in the Northwest Indiana region with FBC’s missions conference. It was such an encouragement being there. Lastly, we presented our ministry with our friends at the Lakeshore Baptist Church of Miller, Indiana. It was a joy to see Pastor Cole and the folks there still going strong for the Lord. Time and page length prevent me from telling you how happy we were to see old friends still serving the Lord faithfully, but I will say that our hearts have been greatly refreshed on this trip.
