Bob Bowen Prayer Letter: Preaching in India“As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.” (Proverbs 25:25)

The first week of May, Director Al Brayley of Bearing Precious Seed called to inform me that they were starting a new project of printing 300,000 Thai John & Romans, which would fill one shipping container. He said the project would probably take about two months to complete. He also said they had four pallets of Thai New Testaments available, which is what I was asking from God to complete a container of whole Thai and Burmese Bibles coming from BEAMS sometime this fall. We will be able to ship two full containers again this year to Thailand. Praise the Lord!

On May 17, I flew to Bangkok for six weeks of scheduled meetings in Thailand and Nagaland in Northeast India. The first five days were spent in Thailand visiting old friends, preaching, and distributing Scriptures. On May 22, I flew to Nagaland, where I preached 14 different times in missions conferences, two Bible college graduation Services, churches, schools, and house churches. In nine days, I preached to 3,100 people, with 895 accepting the Lord Jesus as their personal Saviour. Over 100 people surrendered to full-time Christian service.

The Lord allowed me to preach in the First Baptist Church of Ukurel, India, established by Missionary William Pettigrew in 1904. He was credited for bringing the Gospel to that part of the world. His church still has an attendance of over 500 each Sunday. It was a blessing to be able to preach without an interpreter, because English has been the official language for decades. Please continue to pray for those believers to grow in the Lord. We set in place discipleship classes, and I trained them in the new program, Teaching All Nations.

Thank you for allowing me to serve in Southeast Asia.
