Ben Turner Prayer Letter: An Unexpected Move!“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18)

In the first quarter of 2017, this verse has become more real to the Anchor Baptist Church. Anchor Baptist Church was started in the Cameron Recreation Centre on June 3, 2001. Little did we know then that the Lord would keep us in the recreation centre for over 15 years. On February 12, 2017, we had our final service at 9523 Cameron Street. This was not by our choice; however, we know that the Lord always has a plan! There are many wonderful memories and blessings from our time at Cameron Recreation Centre. To God be all the glory!

We are thankful to many of you who were praying regarding a new meeting location. God opened a door for us to rent a church building that was once owned by a Baptist church. The Baptist church closed 12 years ago and was purchased by another church. Since the building is owned by another church, we are not able to start using it until 2:30 p.m. This means we start Sunday school at 3:00 p.m. and an afternoon service at 4:00 p.m. On February 19, we had our first Sunday services at the new facility.

It was also the start of our revival meetings with Evangelist Randy Chovan. We had been praying and working towards the start of the special meetings. Following the preaching that afternoon, 2 precious people came forward for salvation! Please pray for Gracie and Fernando as we disciple them and encourage them to follow the Lord in believer’s baptism. They are both from Argentina and have been involved in the Catholic church for their entire life.

Your continued prayers for this transition are greatly appreciated. The move consisted of a new meeting location and a new service schedule. This new schedule is definitely not one that any of us are used to when it comes to going to church on Sundays. It is our prayer that we continue to see spiritual growth and numerical growth.
