Ben Turner Prayer Letter: Fall Update From VancouverI had intended to get an update sent out sometime in September. Well, I guess intentions are at least a start. Since our last update, we have seen several souls come to accept Christ as Saviour, 2 people follow the Lord in believer’s baptism, and 2 young people in their 20s have started going through a discipleship program. In late August the fall semester of our Bible institute started with 6 men enrolled. It is a blessing to see many in the church with a desire to grow in their faith and walk with the Lord.

Also in August we held Vacation Bible School. This is always an exciting and busy week. I praise the Lord for the many laborers from Anchor Baptist who served each evening. Since we meet at a local community center, all of our decorations were put up and taken down every night. It was a bit challenging, but the eternal rewards far outweigh the challenges. Once again, we have one new family attending church as a direct result of VBS! To God be all the glory!

turnerWithin the last three weeks, we have had the privilege of hosting a Youth Conference and a Couples’ Retreat. Pastor Brett Pennell from Barrie, Ontario, was our speaker this year at Youth Conference. He was greatly used of the Lord in challenging us to walk in wisdom. For the Couples’ Retreat, Pastor and Mrs. John Wilkerson from Hammond, Indiana, were a tremendous blessing. The theme for the retreat was “Rekindle.” As we rekindle our love for the Lord, our love for our spouse will also be rekindled.

I would like to conclude our letter by sharing a very important prayer request. We have been meeting at the Cameron Recreation Centre since our first service on June 3, 2001. Within the last two months, we have been asked to leave the Centre. This came as quite a surprise to us. We will no longer be able to use the Centre on Wednesdays as of December 31, and on Sundays the deadline is April 30 of next year. I realize many of you probably know of this request. It is our prayer that our faith would increase as we wait on the working of the Lord. Thank you for praying!

The Turners,
Ben, Becky, Caleb, Brianna, and Emma
