We are a very humbled and blessed family. Our prayer continues to be that God will grow our faith through this deputation process. We are just very thankful He has promised us that He will not give us more than we can bear. Each step and each place, God has given us opportunities to grow and learn to rely on His power, provision, and protection. We pray that God will continue to “grow us,” knowing that much faith is required to stay on the field.
For the past two months, we have been in the South. To be honest, being an interracial couple, we were reluctant and weren’t quite sure how we would be received. In the past we were cautioned about trying to raise support down in the South. Let me just say that we have never met finer, more genuine Christians than the ones we have had the privilege to meet these past two months. We thank God for the new friendships and co-laborers in Christ that have agreed to partner with us in prayers and finances to bring hope to the lost souls of the Deaf in Ghana.
Towards the end of June, we were invited to a missions conference at Texas Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas, and their theme was “Mission Possible.” (Side note: What an amazing group of servants at this church!) It was a fun time, and they had challenges for us missionaries to accomplish. One was passing out a certain number of fliers with the plan of salvation on the back. We had the joy of teaming up with missionary couple Simeon and Susie Hudson. Our team was able to lead 3 individuals to Christ. We thoroughly enjoyed working as a team, and we look forward to the day when we’ll join our team in Ghana. One church member shared an address for a Deaf couple. I was thrilled and looked forward to meeting them, but unfortunately when I arrived at their apartment, I found that they had moved. However, the day was still young, so my boys and I marched on and gave the plan of salvation to each home in that apartment complex and to several individuals outside.
We covet your prayers. We ask you continue to pray that God would allow us to meet more Deaf in America to introduce to our Saviour on our journey of deputation. Also pray that God would raise up more workers for the Deaf. Traveling from church to church, I see an absence of Deaf Ministries or the Deaf being reached at all. Before I knew we would be joining the Ghana Team, I asked our team leader Bro. Speer about a Deaf work in Ghana. His reply was sincere in that he just hadn’t really seen them, kind of “out of sight out of mind.” While there on my survey trip, his eyes were opened to the great need, and he and his family are taking part in the effort to reach the Deaf. Our prayer is that God would reveal this need to His servants all across America as well. Please continue praying for more churches to allow us to present our ministry. As always, we ask your prayers for God’s protection and provision for our family. We know it’s by God’s grace alone that we are able to go forward on this deputation journey.
