Baraka Hall Prayer Letter: Augustine Kyei“Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.” (Romans 10:1-4) In this prayer letter, I want to update you by highlighting what God is doing through the life of one of our church members, Augustine Kyei. Augustine, much like Paul, has a desire to see his people, the Deaf Ghanaians, be saved.

In January of 2018, Shabel, a church member, took me to visit one of his good friends, Augustine, in order to share the Gospel with him. Augustine had been involved in a hearing church most of his life and had never really gotten anything out of it other than the need for repentance for salvation. Augustine believed that if he was faithful to church, was baptized, and lived a good life, then he could obtain eternal life. I showed him from the Scriptures that he must put his faith in Christ alone for salvation. He understood clearly and put his faith in Christ.

At the time of his salvation, Augustine was still a student at the Deaf Residential Senior High School and was unable to attend services faithfully. However, each break from school, he came and oftentimes brought many of his friends. Ever since he understood salvation was not a reward for the righteous but a gift for the guilty, he has committed himself to bringing the truth to the Deaf in Ghana, who, much like himself once, have a zeal for God but not according to knowledge.

Augustine began discipleship with me after he completed senior high school. It is clear that God has His hand upon Augustine, and he has become an awe-inspiring witness for God. When we have had visitors, often he and my wife would go into the next room to share the Gospel with them. My wife is often left speechless at his dedication in making sure each person truly UNDERSTANDS the Gospel.
In August of 2019, we had our first Deaf Conference, along with Fundamental Baptist Church International’s Pastors’ and Workers’ Conference. It was this week that Augustine surrendered to do the will of God. He was a little discouraged a month later when his parents insisted he go to a university several hours away. However, God has used this as an opportunity to meet and witness to several of his Deaf classmates. I thoroughly enjoy receiving messages from Augustine letting me know that another Deaf person has received Christ as their Saviour.

I ask you to pray for Augustine Kyei. The Holy Spirit is working in his heart. Pray that God would continue to use him and that God would put a hedge of protection around him, shielding him from Satan’s attacks.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support for our family. The Lord willing, we will be back in the States in September for a three-month furlough. We look forward to seeing as many of our supporting churches as possible.

Your co-laborers for Christ,

The Hall Family
