Andres Amoros Prayer Letter: The Good Shepherd Giveth His Life for the Sheep"Fraternal greetings in the precious name of our glorious Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We give thanks to our God for the opportunity to serve Him in the Caribbean. When most people think about this part of the world, they only think of tourism and fun, but I see the thousands of people with a great need for the Gospel and soul-winning churches.

The last few months, God’s grace has been abundant in the salvation of men. I have had the privilege of preaching at several churches for anniversary services and family conferences. Thanks to the Lord, several people were saved. An entire family was saved in one of the last family conferences where I was preaching. After being saved, they attended the four days of the conference. Glory to God for what He is doing!

Unfortunately, during the month of August, we suffered the loss of one of our pastors, Missionary Joshua Wesson. Bro. Wesson was helping another missionary with his Vacation Bible School. At the end of the Bible School, they went to the beach, and some of the young people who had been working with him were drowning. Pastor Wesson, realizing the situation, was launched to rescue them. He managed to save four of them but drowned trying to save another young man. Literally, this servant of God fulfilled the words of Christ in John 10:11 when he said: “. . . the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” “Missionary Joshua Wesson will be remembered as a servant of God, jealous with sound doctrine, a passionate soul winner, and an excellent father and husband.” Please pray for his wife Joy and their children Kimberly, Stephen, Ashlyn, and Kaitlyn. Pastor Wesson was my friend. His example will follow us forever. Our prayer is that the consolation of God be with His family and the Lighthouse Baptist Church, which God allowed him to found and pastor here in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Heartfelt thanks to all those who prayed for the Fires of Evangelism conference. I think many were spiritually revived. The brothers of the mission who host this conference every year, Evangelizer Baptist Independent Mission (MEBI), have been used by God to strengthen God’s people. Our church was present at each service; several of our members are more active in the church and are winning souls as result of this conference.

Our church is still going strong and working hard. During these months, 144 people have been reached with the Gospel, and several have also been baptized. Please pray that we can retain more of the new converts who have been reach with the Gospel. The Catholic background on this island is real, and only the Lord can transform the minds and the hearts of sinners after being saved. Please pray that they commit themselves to the Lord and the local church.

Again, thanks from our hearts for being part of our ministry.

Prayer Requests

1. Please pray for the Wesson family: Joy, Kimberly, and Steven.
2. Pray for our new converts and their spiritual growth.
3. Pray for our Youth Conference in October.
4. Pray for wisdom to make some decisions in the church.

Andres Amoros Prayer Letter: The Good Shepherd Giveth His Life for the Sheep"Saludos fraternos en el precioso nombre de nuestro glorioso Señor y Salvador Jesucristo.
