Israel and Tonya Alvarez Prayer Letter: Vacation Bible SchoolGreetings! Here is an update from the last two months. In July, Tonya was able to take a trip to visit her mother in Arkansas. Her mother was put on hospice and in a nursing home due to her terminal illness. Tonya is thankful that, although she lives so far away, her mother is being cared for. Please continue to pray for her.
Toward the end of July, we held our Vacation Bible School. We enjoyed hosting a few young people from Hammond, Indiana, during this week-long event in both churches. The church house was filled with children, and many trusted
Christ.

In August, we held our Fuegos de Evangelismo Conference. This is always an exciting time. Thirteen pastors were able to attend from our community and also from Mexico. On the last night, several young people and church members came forward with a desire to serve God full-time. Twenty-seven people accepted Christ during the week of the conference.

At the closing of the conference, we were able to present Bro. Oscar Pedroza as the official pastor of the mission church in Corozal. This church is almost five years old, so we are thrilled to be able to see the church have its own pastor. Bro. Pedroza and his wife Rosalia are doing a wonderful job in serving the Lord here in Belize. I will like to thank the churches who have sent money for this church and property in Corozal. The church is busy raising funds to be able to purchase property.
Pray for us, as we will be taking a short furlough in 2023. Our last furlough was in 2017. The purpose of this furlough is to raise a bit more support and to take care of a few minor health issues. If you would like us to visit you, please let us know. We would love to visit your church and share our ministry with you! We will begin our furlough the second week of January in Hammond, Indiana. From there we will start traveling and making meetings as God leads. Please pray that we can get more support, as we see the need for more support because our family has grown.
Upon our return from furlough, we would like to begin an English service at our church on Sunday mornings. We would also love to start another mission church in a nearby village. Please pray for God to direct our steps. Our desire is to stay busy for the Lord.
Please continue to pray for our two young men who are studying to be pastors. They are just starting out and will need much encouragement along the way. We appreciate you lifting them up in prayer.
Our three girls are growing quickly. We have an energetic eighth grader, a sassy fourth grader, a cute first grader, and a mischievous preschooler. Life is full of family and ministry. It is a joy to share bits and pieces of our life with you. We truly covet your prayers for our family. You support is what keeps us going. Thank you!
In Christ,
The Alvarez Family
