Growing up in a Marine Corps family, I often moved to new places.  But I considered Jacksonville, NC to be “where I grew up”.  At age 16, my family settled in Greensboro, NC.  As a 21 year old marine, lost, empty, and looking for purpose, I knew I needed to find God.  I stumbled into a place called Charity Baptist Church where I was saved in January of 1995.  Within a year, I had answered God’s call on my life to preach.  I also found my wife, Misty, there.  God has opened many doors for my family and me to serve Him.  I was the superintendent of Malachi Boys School, a home for troubled boys.  From there, I became an assistant pastor at Amazing Grace Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Howard Owens.  God then lead us to pack up and head to Hyles-Anderson Bible College.

It was at Hyles-Anderson where I nailed down the location God would have us start a church…Jacksonville, NC, the home of Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base.  I pastored Coastline Baptist Church for 13 wonderful years.  I thought I would die serving God in Jacksonville.  Once again, however, God had other plans for my family.  We have surrendered to go start as many churches as He will allow us on the island of Puerto Rico.  I can’t wait to see what God has in store for our future!

Jon Wrightson Prayer Letter: Thankful for Being Rescued

Jon Wrightson Prayer Letter: Thankful for Being RescuedFamily

Thank you for all your prayers and support, especially during these last few weeks. Annabelle has been doing well, but she was losing weight, and we couldn’t figure out why. We took her to the doctor, and she had to have a minor surgery for tongue- and lip-tie. She is doing much better now.

Soul Winning

I have met many folks, both rich and poor, who lost everything in the flooding, but they had one thing in common—thankfulness to those who rescued them when the water was rising. We are so incredibly blessed to live in the most amazing country on the planet. The number of volunteers was overwhelming. While in Jacksonville, we have had great soul-winning opportunities. I met Dominic, who was displaced because of the hurricane. I shared the Gospel with him, but he didn’t believe you could know you are saved. I then showed Him from the Bible how much we are loved by God, and His eyes lit up. He then explained that at the age of 13, he rode a bus to church in New Bern, North Carolina, and got saved. Praise God for the Bus Ministry! Scores of people will be in Heaven because someone loved them enough to pick them up for church.

With the new baby and Misty recovering, we only had one conference this month. We were at Lewis Avenue Baptist Church in Michigan. WOW! They truly have a heart for missions. We have been in several churches in North Carolina as well. We will hit the road hard again this month. Thank you for your prayers and support.
