Growing up in a Marine Corps family, I often moved to new places.  But I considered Jacksonville, NC to be “where I grew up”.  At age 16, my family settled in Greensboro, NC.  As a 21 year old marine, lost, empty, and looking for purpose, I knew I needed to find God.  I stumbled into a place called Charity Baptist Church where I was saved in January of 1995.  Within a year, I had answered God’s call on my life to preach.  I also found my wife, Misty, there.  God has opened many doors for my family and me to serve Him.  I was the superintendent of Malachi Boys School, a home for troubled boys.  From there, I became an assistant pastor at Amazing Grace Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Howard Owens.  God then lead us to pack up and head to Hyles-Anderson Bible College.

It was at Hyles-Anderson where I nailed down the location God would have us start a church…Jacksonville, NC, the home of Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base.  I pastored Coastline Baptist Church for 13 wonderful years.  I thought I would die serving God in Jacksonville.  Once again, however, God had other plans for my family.  We have surrendered to go start as many churches as He will allow us on the island of Puerto Rico.  I can’t wait to see what God has in store for our future!

Jon Wrightson Prayer Letter: Traveling Together as a Family AgainFamily

We are back on the road again with the entire gang. Praise the Lord! We are all traveling together again as a family. God also answered our prayer for a newer vehicle. We were able to purchase a 15-passenger van, which makes traveling with seven people much more comfortable.

Soul Winning

We were thrilled to attend a Missions Conference at Coastline Baptist Church. During that time, we went on bus visitation, and I saw a young man helping his dad hang siding. I love to see young men working, so I gave him some money. Then his father Javier trusted Christ as his Saviour. Javier’s wife and two children came to Coastline the following Sunday. Javier has been working seven days a week since the hurricane but plans to start coming as soon as he can. Then we were at Bible Baptist Church in New Port Richey, Florida, with Pastor Stidham. Wow! What a great church! They were one of the most welcoming churches we have ever visited. While out soul winning with the pastor, I was able to lead a young lady named Victoria to Christ. Then after the Sunday evening service, a visitor asked me questions about depression and trusting God. She also trusted Christ as her Saviour. Praise God for these!

Travels

While in North Carolina, I preached with Tom Williams, Larry Smith, and Joseph Elwell. What a great conference! Their missions giving increased by 40 percent, and two families surrendered to the mission field. After that we headed to the warm state of Florida.
