“I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
Praise the Lord, the Cambodian government has now allowed church meetings of every kind to open back up to normal since the last week of November, just in time for Christmas. By the grace of God, we were able to hold our traditional Christmas program with our church people on Sunday. Many of our church people reached out and invited their coworkers, and as a result, a good number of visitors were able to attend our special service. We thank God for the opportunity to remember and celebrate His birth during this time every year.
However, we experienced a sad and unexpected loss towards the end of December. Yeut, a seven-year-old boy who had been faithfully coming to church every Sunday and Wednesday with his older sister, died in a drowning accident in a deep sinkhole while he was playing by himself. This little boy lived right next door to the church and would come in and play with the other neighborhood kids almost every day. My wife and I were able to meet his parents and talk to them as they were mourning the loss of their only son. Thank the Lord, the next Friday evening after my wife had her Ladies’ Bible Study, my second oldest daughter Priscilla was able to witness to Yeut’s older sister Srey Ying, and she asked Jesus to come into her heart; she received salvation that wonderful night.
The following morning, we received news that Srey Ying’s parents had made the decision to move away from our neighborhood, taking Srey Ying with them. One of the ladies in our church told us that Yeut’s father could not bear living where he had lost his son, so the family decided to move away. Please keep this family in your prayers, as they are suffering deep pain over Yeut’s sudden passing.
For Christ’s sake,
Kounaro, Chorvy, Priscilla, Christina, & Jonathan Keo
It was such a blessing to be able to hold our special Christmas service this year!
