Ricardo Leyva Prayer Letter: Quiet Time in CubaApril was my birthday, and I received many emails from supporting churches all across the country. Thanks so very much to all! “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.” (Philippians 1:3)

The past two months were very quiet. The past two months, not many people were saved, and no one was baptized. I, myself, have become quieter. I don’t mean that I don’t speak to people anymore. I mean “quiet” in the sense that I look for quiet time more often to meditate. I look for more quiet time to pray throughout the day. I am praying like never before in my life. I now think that prayer class was the most important class I took in Bible college. I want God to speak to me like never before in my life. It is vital for my ministry and the ministry in Cuba.

In my last letter, I mentioned that one of the Bible institute graduates owns a small piece of land and that we wanted to build something basic (walls, a metal roof, a cement floor, chairs, etc.) to have meetings there. I calculated $3,000 for the project. Our home church donated $2,000 towards that project. In addition, Mrs. Cutler of Bible Baptist Church of Campbellsville, Kentucky, gave $100; and Trinity Baptist Church of Big Spring, Texas, gave $500. “Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 5:20)

There are two small Baptist churches in Cuba that are becoming independent. I am working with them. One is in the city of Camaguey, the other in the city of Holguin. They are both very needed. I mentioned their need to a small church in Mexico a long time ago. This past May the pastor of this church contacted me and told me, “Our church has raised a love offering for both of these churches. Their love offering in Mexican pesos equaled $145 for each church. That is amazing! Since it had been a long time since I mentioned the need to this church, I thought they had forgotten, but God does not forget! “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” (Philippians 4:6)

Please Pray for:

1. Power to preach, teach, and witness.
2. Wisdom in every decision.
3. Love for all peoples.
4. Family’s spiritual life.
