“We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed.” (II Corinthians 4:8-9)
Living on the outskirts of town in the developing area (informal shack area) presents new challenges all the time. Sometimes the darkness is overwhelming, yet it is a privilege to be a light in the darkness for our Lord Jesus Christ. The strength that the Lord gives us is very evident. Thank you for praying for us in that way. Please continue to pray for strength beyond our years. It is often an opening for us to glorify our Lord and to witness for Him.
We are thankful for the 33 souls saved in personal soul winning and for one of our teens witnessing to a friend and leading her to the Lord. We are also thankful that, while on bedrest because of a broken vertebrae in her back, one of our ladies was able to lead a family member, who had come to visit her, to Christ. The brother of one of our members died, and I was given the privilege to preach at the wake, where 12 people prayed for salvation, and at the funeral, where another 40 people prayed for salvation. God is good.
Dr. Siemer from FBMI is coming to teach on discipleship November 16-19. He will leave on November 13 and get home on November 21. His son Tom will be traveling with him and playing the trumpet in the services. A contractor named Nate is also supposed to come with them to give us some advice on the building of the church. Please pray for these services, for a safe journey both ways, and for wisdom.
Update: We were without Internet again. When we tried to go to an Internet café, the computer blocked the ability to connect because it said we were being hacked. Brother Siemer, Tom, and Nathan came and were such a help and encouragement to us.
There was a special Teen Brigade with a lot of fun, but most importantly, 4 boys and 4 girls accepted Christ as Saviour. Saturday was spent making our house more secure and then going soul winning. We had 10 people accept Christ, and 2 came the next day for the Sunday service. The teaching and preaching of the Sunday services were a blessing to us, and 2 more raised their hands for salvation. Tom played his trumpet for us, and the people of the church loved it. On Monday we went to Jamie’s special-needs school. My wife spoke for a short time, and Tom played his trumpet again. It was such a special time for the learners there to see that they, too, can learn how to play an instrument. The students sang so nicely to the Christian songs.
Nathan was able to meet with our contractor. He also looked over the plans for us to give us and our contractor advice. We are thankful for the gifts God gives to each individual and their willingness to use them for the Lord.
