Israel Alvarez Prayer Letter: Thank God for Putting Me in the MinistryMinistry Update

“And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry.” (I Timothy 1:12) Lately I have been considering what a privilege it is to be in the ministry. Paul said in Timothy that he was thankful God chose him, and I feel the same way. The ministry is my life’s work, and I can think of no greater joy.

During these two months, God allowed us to see many people trust Christ. We were also able to see over 15 visitors attend our regular services. Sometimes in the daily grind of life, we can easily forget the little mercies from God. Each time I write an update, I am reminded of the many blessings received. We had our second missions conference in March. We had Evangelist Nieto from Houston, Texas, here with us as our guest speaker. We also had Evangelist Enrique Ara from Campeche, Mexico, preach for us. Throughout the conference, we watched presentation videos from several missionaries. My hope was that our people would get a heart for the lost in other countries. The spirit of the conference was great. We ended the week with a banquet of foods from different Central American countries. We had 8 visitors attend the final Sunday night service.

This year for Mother’s Day, we held a special service. We gave a rose and a cake to each mother as a small gesture of honor. We were thrilled to have 23 mothers present—7 of whom were first-time visitors. Three of the visitors trusted Christ during the service. Since then we have had 3 of them join us again in our services. The discipleship program with our teens is going well. We have a steady group of 10 teens who come to our house each Saturday night to study the Bible. Please continue to pray that they would grow spiritually as a result of this program.

In June we are planning on installing drywall to make two new classrooms for Sunday school. We are also busy preparing for our annual Fundamentalist Conference in July. We generally have several churches from Mexico join us for this conference. Please pray that the preaching and classes would be a blessing and encouragement to all.

Family Update

We are so pleased to be almost finished with our house. We are just waiting (still) for the electricity and water systems. Our Alyssa is about to finish first grade. Analea is a busy three year-old who likes to have tea parties. Isabella is learning to roll over on her side and laugh at her sisters and is growing chubbier each day. Thank you for keeping us always in your prayers. We are truly blessed to be prayed for by so many.

In Christ,

The Alvarez Family
